Lord Mansion – Olympia, WA

Architect: Joseph Wohleb
Current Owner: Washington State Historical Society
Original Owner: Clarence Lord
Year Built: 1923

The house was designed by Architect Joseph Wohleb for Clarence and Elizabeth Lord.  Clarence, a prominent banker in Olympia was also the mayor from 1902 to 1903.  After his death in 1939 the lady Elizabeth gave the house to the state and it’s now used as a museum for the capitol.  It can also be rented for events.

The day we went to photograph the house they were setting up to show a movie on the front lawn, apperantly they do that every Friday night in the summer and it’s free to the public, how cool is that?

We’ll go back and photograph the front of the house without a movie screen and update this post soon.

The carriage house is huge.  It can be rented out separately from the mansion for events, parties, wedding receptions, etc

Stephanie Inn – Cannon Beach, OR

I was taking a morning walk along the beach last week, coffee in hand.  Just a short stroll south of downtown Cannon Beach I noticed the Stephanie Inn, it’s right on the beach and nestled into a very nice residential area made up mostly of vacation houses and rental cabins.

I stopped to compose this photograph from the corner of their beach trail and got lucky with a seagull flying by at just the right time.  I think the bird is in the perfect spot in the image and I swear I didn’t move it in photoshop! ;-)

Check out the Stephanie Inn’s website
